Royal Wedding

Post by Willy on Thu Apr 14, 2011 9:15 pm

I feel like there's already a thread dedicated to this, but I could be imagining it. Anyway...

Does anyone really care? Apparently it's a "day off work" for most of you guys, but I know for many that the "day off" is unpaid, so basically you have to work an extra day to make up for it, so it's not really a fucking day off, is it? On top of that there's the 22m quid security bill that comes out of your pockets, and lord knows whatever other costs there may be to the hardworking, depressed folk of England.

I personally think the whole thing is a farce. I'm all for tradition in England and keeping an identity, but the royals are/should be as dead as Christianity is by now. We're in an age where equality is essential to move forward as the human race, yet we still almost 'worship' a king or queen because they were, what, BORN into a family? Great. Whoever came up with that idea was clearly very smart. Rolling Eyes

I'd be more in favour if the royals actually used some of their power (which they still do have, by the way, but choose not to use it) and cut off some fucking heads that need cutting off. Instead they sit back and watch their country fall to pieces, but maybe that was the plan to start with, since they're not even all that English in the first place.

Fucking sham.

Fuck those inbred bastards, no one should have that sort of wealth by way of whose vagina they came out of.

Kate Middleton is quite hot though.

Oh, and I'm being told that this wedding should "lift the mood" of the country. I'm sure all the people who want to get married but can't afford to will be really fucking happy.

It's just insult after insult. I'm pissed off about it and I don't even live there. I honestly feel sorry for any taxpaying Brit right now.

Wrong! buttkick

To be quite honest I don't even know what she looks like. All I know is what I've heard about her being "a normal, working-class girl with working-class values". Since when did "working-class" become upper-class? I don't know any working-class people who have that kinda money...and horses. Except pikeys, they have horses. Well, one horse. Or a donkey. Same kinda thing.

I'm sure I've documented my feelings about the royals here before but just in case I haven't Willy's initial tirade is far too mild and to my thinking almost puts him in the royalist camp.

I think the Royals would be more widely accepted if they used their own wealth (which comes from us anyway) instead of fleecing the hard working people for more of their money.

Between them robbing bastards and the thick headed inbreds of the government, I can't wait for the revolution!

I get the day off with pay. Won't be using it to watch Eamonn Holmes' full-day coverage of the wedding on Sky News, though. The amount of scrutiny on every little detail makes me feel sorry for William and Kate. I felt a bit sick yesterday when a bunch of women were given 20 minutes on the news to discuss '+1s' and whether Kate will say 'love, honour and obey' ("because Diana didn't say 'love, honour and obey'" Rolling Eyes ).

I didnt realise Diana said 'Phillip' rather than 'Charles' on her wedding day, thats almost as bad as Ross saying 'Rachel' rather than 'Emily'
