Plumber??

Post by DodgyGambit on Tue Dec 21, 2010 3:13 pm

Anyone a plumber here?

I know its been cold the last few days so was wondering is that the reason my sink drains very slowly. Wife woke up today morning and noticed something in the washing machine, opened the door and pretty much flooded the kitchen. So i switched on the washing machine to drain out whatever water there was by putting some towels on quick wash, but i noticed when the water is drained it pushes the water in the sink and then sucks it back in again

Any ideas what im supposed to do?

I know a bit.

Sounds like there's a blockage in your main line. Don't bother with a liquid cleaner or a plunger, it could make it worse and end up costing you unnecessary money. Now, this may sound like shit advice, but it's the ONLY advice; you need to call a qualified plumber to locate the blockage and remove it. The only time water would back up from your washer to your sink/vice-versa is if your main line has something clogging it up.

Probably gonna cost you about 60 or 70 quid - sorry. :/

I can recommend a good plumber. He's a little Italian guy, gets his brother to give him a hand sometimes. Can't remember their names at the moment though.

anyways i didnt take willys advice. Plumbers were charging triple time for it snowing and festive period call outs. So had to man up and unscrew all pipes, used a plunger thingy to pull out a big ice block stuck in the pipes......everything is working fine now.

thanks

i feel like a real man now

The missus called her dad to fix it, but that annoyed me so i went ahead and did it myself.....i used her hairdryer to melt the ice which was payback for taking away my masculinity.
