Fate of the universe

Post by randomsam on Fri Aug 20, 2010 12:41 am

I read this today on the bbc website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-11030889

A quote from the article; "Eventually it will become a cold, dead wasteland with a temperature approaching what scientists term "absolute zero"."

Doesn't it just fill you with optimism. Sad

It doesn't say when "eventually" is, though. As long as I get a few generations of family out of it then I'm happy enough. Wink

The Earth will do its own thing and we just have to accept that. Hopefully some of the scientists will be wrong, or maybe one day we could fund a huge heating system that orbits Earth and controls the atmosphere...but I doubt it.

I'm more worried about the possibility of being hit by a bus than the Earth freezing over.

I wish it would freeze over here at the moment.

I was under the impression that it happened in January.

I thought that the sun would expand first scorching the earth before engulfing it? Is this before or after the freezing?
