Miami Vice 2006-much maligned cinematic adaptation of everyones favourite 80's Miami Based cop show Wink Super stylish and wonderfully shot by uber Director Michael Mann and although Colin Farrell Is a bit out of his depth as James "Sonny" Crockett it is brilliantly realised and adds to Mann's canon of work a real dash of style

Interesting subject matter, the "grooming" of young girls on internet chat sites bu older men. Happens here to a 14 year old who gets lured by a 35 year old man, sex takes place in a very seedy motel then the majority of the film deals with the aftermath. The girl insists he loves her and that her family and the police are being unreasonable in attempting to track him down. The father wants to killl and the mother is distraught, older brother doesn't know what the fuck to do but does know he's lost his younger sister. It's not until incontrovertible evidence of this predator having done it before is presented to her that the girl accepts she's been a victim. This provokes suicide attempt and further family angst.

A good film with difficult subject matter well handled. Clive Owen pops up as the want to kill father too.

Apparently Owen is already on the Oscar shortlist for his performance in the film

The Green Hornet

Rich guys rich dad dies, guy gets to run his fathers paper. His coffee maker/butler/mechanic and him become good friends, they go on a vigilante mission and make themselves look bad in their own papers. Jay chou the mechanic guy (apparently a famous singer) is pretty much the hero and Seth Rogan the Green Hornet.

Its a very shit film but not as shit as Scott Pilgrim vs The World
4/10

The Human Centipede

Girls lose their way on their way to a party, find help from a German Surgeon who ends up kidnapping them, in his master plan to help the world somehow by creating a human centipede. A chinese guy is thrown in as well to complete the sequence. The chinese guy is at the front, the first girls mouth is connected to the guys arsehole, then the other is connected to the first girls arsehole.........and the answer to what your thinking is yes, thats exactly how the girls have their food. Then its a case of how they plan their escape, which is pretty shit if you pardon the pun.

Yes a film shitter than Scott Pilgrim vs the world 1.5/10

The Big Blue 1988

Strange one this, directed by Luc Besson and starring Jean-Marc Barr, Jean Reno & Roseanna Arquette the plot revolves around the baffling sport of free diving. Divers who go down to ridiculous depths without oxygen or equipment of any kind. For Besson I think this was a labour of love, some beautifully shot scenes and more than a suggestion of mysticism. The film's a tad overlong at 2 hours 40 minutes but it held me.

Bronson 2008

The tale of Britain's most difficult prisoner who has spent 30 years in solitary confinement. Evil violent bastard or alter ego striving for recognition. You decide. Quite well made and well acted by Tom Hardy.

The Great Debaters 2007

Denzil Washington & Forest Whitaker in the story of Wiley College Texas' debating team and their success as a black college in the 1930s. Engrossing film which had me rooting for them all the way.

Blonde Ambition (or something like that)

Was forced to watch it during tea yesterday. Jessica Simpson starred. I'm not going to tell you the plot as no one should watch this movie. Jessica Simpson is a horrible actress and the supporting acts were equally poor. A cameo by Willie Nelson is the only thing that gives this movie a mark.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2

Went to the midnight showing today (because I'm awesome like that) and it truly was an epic movie. All the disappointment I had about the lack of action was made up for in this part. The special effects were brilliant, the music was brilliant and Daniel Radcliffe actually managed to give a good performance. A perfect end to a fantastic franchise.

I still haven't read a single page or watch a single minute of Harry Potter, I don't know whether to cave or not, the wife is pressuring me Sad

I have to deal with Twilight which is bad enough.

Watch 8mm last night, hadn't seen in a a number of years, good film and one of only about 5 Nicholas Cage films that aren't a steaming pile of turd.
