I thought the BBC fired him because his jokes were getting too obscene and controversial.

He apparently left to pursue other commitments. His C4 show Tramadol Nights was a sack of shite though.

Yeah I'm sure that was part and parcel of a pay-off to leave though... not to cause a fuss and all that.

The Hangover part II (2011)

Went to the flicks last night for this one, glad I did that rather than wait for DVD or download as it came across well on the big screen. Some big scenery from the far East and some equally big laughs from the trio of Bachelors. I enjoyed it even though it ain't my favourite genre of movie, it barrelled along quickly, starting with the ending (kinda) and the rest was a retrospective look at what the preceding week held in store, and what a week!! I want a stag do like this one (though I'll never marry again) and I reckon it would be the experience of a lifetime. These guys really work together in this movie and their characters are so real, yet so fucked up! I don't normally laugh aloud (can't bring myself to type lol) in the cinema, but I did a few times at this, go see it for a mood lifter, nice cameo from Paul Giamatti too, giving it 8.

I watched it last night, not in the cinema and thought it wasn't great. Reminded me of Home Alone then Home Alone 2 although no where near as good, the format is just identical, Stu lost a tooth, this time he gets a tattoo, first one had a lion, this one had a monkey. They lose a guy and then find him right back at the start all along. And the desperate use of Mr Chow although amusing was too obvious. I get the formula and it does work, but for me only once, understandably they could use the success of the first to make a shit tonne of money so I don't blame them.

The other thing that bothered me was the over extension of each character, Stu was far too much of a drama queen just having hissy fits that weren't funny, Alan was made even more brash and random, but in general quite funny. The funniest thing is that Doug was still a boring cunt Laughing

Worth watching but a let down.

Apparently they were using that tattoo without permission (someone copyrighted a tattoo??) and have to leave it out or re-shoot some scenes on the DVD cut, saw this on some news site which I can't find now...

It's something similar to his tattoo but the name I read about who "owned" it wasn't Iron Mike! Will dig around for the article... THIS MIGHT EXPLAIN A LITTLE?

Yeah, it's the artist who did Mike Tyson's tattoo. But then Mike Tyson is in the film anyway so the tattoo would be shown on him even if it wasn't on the other guy.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World

WTF was I thinking. It has to be the biggest load of bollocks ever made. Comic book style film, guy (thin 1 from superbad) has to defeat a girls 7 exes to win her over. Film did not make sense was not really funny and most times very predictable.
'Why do i have to face your 7 ex boyfriends'
'Its Exes not ex boyfriends'

Cmon even I knew who was gonna be next. When it came to the 3rd Ex i thought to myself ffs theres 4 more of thi crap to come and im faling asleep.

Very shit film 2/10
dont waste ur time with it

Kick Ass 2010

Comedy super hero caper which I found mildly amusing but not as funny as it could have been. Nerd as super hero wannabe kind of thing with arch villain and Nicholas Cage showing his face too. I watched this with Mrs Rover and our 2 sons, they liked it more than we. A generational thing, not sure as I laughed more than them at the South Park team ripping into Apple & Steve Jobs with their Human Centipad episode.

There Will be Blood

Daniel Day Lewis stars as an oilman who looks to buy land to dig up for oil. I actually expected more from this, it seemed to be more centred around his relationship with his son and how it affects him personally and his business dealings. I thought it was very slow paced and dragged out too long, I would say more could have been done to utilise Lewis acting skills, but I think the guy who played Eli deserves an oscar just the way he preached in the film. The ending was a disappointment. Expected more.
Not as shit as Scott Pilgrim vs the world 5/10

Hmmm

This was a film I couldn't really make my mind up about. Good bits, bad bits and a tad overlong but overall positive.

I'd have to go for 7.

Trust 2010

Interesting subject matter, the "grooming" of young girls on internet chat sites bu older men. Happens here to a 14 year old who gets lured by a 35 year old man, sex takes place in a very seedy motel then the majority of the film deals with the aftermath. The girl insists he loves her and that her family and the police are being unreasonable in attempting to track him down. The father wants to killl and the mother is distraught, older brother doesn't know what the fuck to do but does know he's lost his younger sister. It's not until incontrovertible evidence of this predator having done it before is presented to her that the girl accepts she's been a victim. This provokes suicide attempt and further family angst.

A good film with difficult subject matter well handled. Clive Owen pops up as the want to kill father too.
