Pineapple Express has Seth Rogen in it, right? I made myself a promise that I wouldn't watch any film with him in it, purely because he's been in trailers for so many films that I think I'd hate.

Another promise I made to myself; not to watch anything written by Kevin Smith. How anybody thinks Zak and Miri Make a Porno or Clerks I/II is funny can kiss my fucking arse. It's cheap smut with no regard for the audience. Those films treat you like you're a slobbering idiot and I can't stand writers who care so little about the people watching. I have a few friends who seem to think Kevin Smith is the best comedy writer around. They'll be seeing much less of me in the future and they can forget about birthday and Christmas cards, too. Wankers.

I really can't face watching it, sorry. I know I might be cutting off my nose to spite my face, but my face seems to like not having to watch anything as moronic as that.

Juno 2007 - Been meaning to watch this one for a long while. Tells the story of a young girl who gets pregnant the first time she has sex. Exceptionally well played by the young actress, the film has a feel of authenticity about it both story and dialogue wise.

A good fim.

watched Alone in the Dark

another game to big screen movie, with Christian Slater, Stephen Dorff and a very fat Tara Reid

watched bits here and there a few weeks ago and it looked good, watched the full movie on TV last night and realised the bits and pieces I watched were the best bits, when you put the full story together it doesnt work, doesnt make sense. How has Tara Reid put on so much weight, she looked pretty fine in Van Wilder Party Liaison but her legs were fat, her bum was big and she looks to have aged. The movie itself lots of gore but could still do with more action.

6/10

Not a film at all and it's the reason that I've posted very little about films I've watched in the last few weeks. I've been watching all 5 seasons of The Wire. I watched the last episode of season 5 last night. I enjoyed every minute of this unusual and rewarding programme, bravo HBO. Every character is developed good or bad and as a picture of the problems facing American cities it's unsurpassed in my experience.

Certainly up there with the Sopranos as the best the the telly has ever offered up. Steve Earle's in it too.

Not much point in me going on about this marvellous series any more as Irvine Welsh & others have done it all for me here:

It is that good.

Slumdog Millionaire 2008

Finally got round to watching this and I will say that I have not been disappointed it's a very good film inall respects and deserves the praise which it has had heaped upon it. It tells the story of a young boy from the slums of Mumbai who wins the local version of "Who wants to be a Millionaire" despite the scepticism of the TV host and the police. It's all cleverly wound in with the story of his life as a young orphan. Danny Boyle has excelled himself here.

I agree. It's one of the best films I've seen in a while. Although, my father recently read the book first and then watched the film and said there was so much more in the book that could've been in the film, but I guess that's the case with most films that accompany a book. Trainspotting, while being awesome, is still probably a better book than it is a film. Gonna borrow the Slumdog book and have a look for myself, but I did think the film was excellent. I'd go as far as to say it's groundbreaking.

Downloading season one right now. My friend's mentioned it to me a couple of times because it's based in Baltimore where she went to college, so I'll take both yours and her recommendation, seeing as you've been pestering me to see it for months now.

If you find some of season 1 a bit slow don't give up on it it will reward you in the end. It really evolves into something quite ambitious, the study of a city.

Re: The Last Film I Watched Was....

Post by Willy on Sun Feb 22, 2009 4:11 pm

Nearly finished downloading The Wire now, it's got a few hours to go. Very Happy

Watched 'W' the other night, which is a 'biography' of George W.Bush. Gotta say, I wasn't that hopeful that it'd be good, even knowing Oliver Stone made it didn't make me want to watch but I'm glad I did. Josh Brolin plays Bush absolutely BRILLIANTLY. Probably one of the best performances I've ever seen from any actor. It does seem a bit cheesy at first but I got half an hour into it and totally forgot it was Josh Brolin. Apart from that performance, the film seems like it portrays Bush quite well. It doesn't glorify him but it doesn't shy away from making him look silly, either. I'd give it an 8/10 - definitely worth a look.

Watched Transformers for the first time the other night, too. It's one of those films I'd been meaning to watch for ages and never got round to it.

I thought, apart from the brilliant special effects, that it had a good story and kept the spirit of the toys alive, didn't lose track of what Transformers is meant to be and kept me watching from start to finish. Megan Fox looks beautiful in it, too. I gave it a 9/10 on IMDB, I thought it was fucking ACE. bounce
