Sri Lanka it is in the final then. It should be a cracker. I think it will be a battle of the bowlers with Mendis-Malinga-Murali v Afridi-Gul-Ajmal. Whoever shines from them will lift the cup. But i'm confident Gul and co can keep dilshan quiet.

Just seems a little unfair that you hedge your bets with the Pakistan cricket team. I can trace various lineages back to Russia, Ireland and Italy, but I've never supported any of their national teams in any sport. If you're English you should really only back the English team.

Maybe I would have been a little invested in Italy's last World Cup campaign if I could feign interest in international football, but that's purely hypothetical hypocrisy.

So before England went out, were you rooting for them or Pakistan?

I fear I may have started something here.

I suppose if you supported Pakistan even against England that would be alright, but pick one.

I guess so Wink

Pakistan are known as a strong cricketing nation but England are a good side too. With the whole neighbourhood supporting either Pakistan or India i would have stood out saying i support England Laughing

Anyway, the big rivalry in Cricket for us is against India. As long as they crash out first i'm happy (sorry RG). Trust me it's almost as bad as Rovers v Dingles in footy.

As it happens, I have seen the Pakistan football team and they're almost as bad as the England cricket team.

Seriously though, having thought it through there's no place for nationality in cricket anyway. Not with the number of foreign-born players England select: Pietersen, Strauss, Shah, Geraint Jones, Ambrose, Prior, Caddick, Hick, Amjad Khan.

Plus James Anderson was born in Burnley which makes it impossible to support him.

I don't get why you'd support your ancestors' country over the country you've always lived in. I wouldn't support Holland over England, though maybe that's just me. Laughing

You make a fair point on the different nationalities within the England team. But since an early age i have always supported England in international football and whenever i have watched cricket i have always found myself looking out for how Pakistan are getting on. That's how it has been for ages.

What's that DR? I don't remember entering a fantasy Twenty20 tournament. Have you just made this whole thing just so you can say you won something?

p.s. Well done to you Dodgy.

a mate of mine is a pakistan fan and he spent all of saturday looking to buy final tickets he ended up buying 4 on ebay for 800pounds, thats 200 quid each and that was the cheapest he found, prices were up to around 600/700 quid per ticket in some places. The actual ticket price is £60, think about the profit made on them.

I would have insulted him had pakistan lost and in some ways i was hoping they would lose

I wanted Sri Lanka to win. Overall they have been the most consistent team throughout the tournament and deserved to win.
