World Snooker Championships 2009

Post by DeadlyRovers on Thu Apr 16, 2009 3:07 pm

It starts on Saturday (yes i am early in making this) the biggest event in snooker the world championships live at the crucible. I'm really looking forward to it. Ronnie O'sullivan has come out and said he only fears John Higgins and implied that if anybody is going to win this tournament it will be one of them two. Mind games? Or is he just taking the piss out of the rest? You never know with this fella, he has given some wacky interviews in the past. As always i will have an eye out for Chinese sensation Ding Junhui, he is an amazing talent who has just lost his way a little recently but he will be a star in the future. He got beat in the China open by a youngster and i am sure that will have pissed him off. He should be fired up for this so i've backed him to win this tournament at 18/1. Nah he didn't make it.

I've also put some on Rory McLeod who is at 750/1 to win it. You never know.

Yes it's started!

O'sullivan v Bingham is at 2-2 at the mid session interval.

Longshot Mcleod is at 1-1 against Mark King.

Yesterday's results:

Ronnie O'sullivan 10-5 Stuart Bingham. Ronnie getting into the flow of things, great performance and Bingham couldn't handle him.

The other game from yesterday King v Mcleod is still ongoing. Currently 8-5 to King. Shit! I need Mcleod to progress or else there's 1 of my bets screwed.

My bet on Rory Mcleod is hanging on by a thread. He is trailing 9-6. Got a big job on his hands here to produce a fightback.

Just been watching Hendry V Williams and as usual, Hendry was immense. Looks every bit the player he did 10 years ago.

My money's on him to win the whole thing. He's alright for a sweaty sock.

Ding leads Liang 5-4 going into tomorrow's session. Got a feeling Liang is going to do him.

Just watching Joe Perry v Jamie Cope. Perry leads 5-3 but Cope is in here on a 50 break as we speak.

Re: World Snooker Championships 2009

Post by DodgyGambit on Tue Apr 21, 2009 12:14 pm

SNOOKER star Stephen Maguire was quizzed yesterday by police probing suspected match-fixing.

Police in Strathclyde interviewed the world No2 over suspicious betting patterns in his UK Championship clash with pal and fellow Scot Jamie Burnett in December in Telford, Shropshire.

Bookies reported unusual betting patterns as big sums went on Maguire, 28, to win 9-3 — the eventual result.

Much of the money had been wagered using new online accounts set up in Glasgow.

In an ironic twist, the two will play each other tomorrow in the World Championship in Sheffield.

Maguire, who was not arrested yesterday, said: “It annoys me but I know nothing’s happened.”

World No45 Burnett, 33, added: “I’ve done nothing wrong.”

It seriously looked shifty from the footage i have seen of that game. Burnett way overcut the final black by a mile and it looked like he did it on purpose. Maguire then potted it.

Super comeback from Ding to beat Liang 10-8. He was trailing 8-7 and looked to be down and out but fought back to win 3 on the bounce. I am going to play at 4, bring it on Smile

Robertson is looking in good nick. Will give anybody a tough game.

Ryan Day has knocked out Stephen 'pie man' Lee 10-4.
